"Geographies of Whiteness"
The study of whiteness emerged recently within human geography. Although
geography has a strong heritage of scholarship in the study of processes
of racialisation, the study of whiteness has tended to remain within
other disciplines, such as cultural studies, sociology and more recently,
Whiteness Studies. In this paper, it is argued that whiteness, as processes
of power, needs to be recognised as highly geographical and in need
of critical appraisal by geographers.
