2008 Annual Meeting, This year, the AAG Indigenous Peoples Specialty Group will hold a joint -pre-conference meeting with the Indigenous Peoples’ Knowledges and Rights Commission of the International Geographers Union (IGU), and the Native Canadians Specialty Group of the Canadian Association of Geographers (CAG), to be held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the AAG in 2008. This joint meeting is entitled Indigenous Geographies of Struggle and Self-determination. The pre-conference meeting in Plymouth will bring together geographers from around the world who work with Indigenous peoples, to aid in creating a network and to share our research and experiences. This meeting will allow for informal gatherings and exploration of the local area and history. While in Plymouth we will also be meeting with the local Native American community, the Mashpee Wampanoag. Accommodation has been arranged at the Pilgrim Sands Hotel (http://www.pilgrimsands.com/), double occupancy US $43, and triple occupancy US $34 per night, continental breakfast included). At the AAG annual meeting in Boston, the Indigenous Peoples Specialty Group will be sponsoring a symposium comprised of paper sessions, panels and a plenary speaker, Dr. Daniel Wildcat from Haskell Indian Nations University, on 15-16 April.
