Chapter Contents:

People
As Palau becomes increasingly developed, Airai State is changing due to its proximity to Koror, the provisional capital and commercial center. The population of Airai is changing with the influx of newcomers.

Village
At the same time that the role of Airai State is expanding, the upkeep and habitation of the traditional village is declining. The role of this village is being reconsidered.

Community
Old communal institutions are being revitalized in modern ways. Here we learn of the return of mens' and women's associations, and the role of community bai.

Re-planting
The means to preserve culture and traditional values while engaging with the modern world are considered. Noah talks about the importance of education, and Tina presents three important concepts.

Sacred Sites
The role of bai, both traditional and modern, are considered in the contemporary context.

Farewell
Closing thoughts from some of our guides as we bid farewell to Airai and to Palau.

Language
Basic Palauan terminology regarding sacred geography and progress.
